Mark your calendar, one and ALL.. Donkeys have won over everyone’s hearts and I gotta tell ya they are probably the most inquired about animal at Jem’s Legacy Sanctuary.

It seemed appropriate to host a Donkey Education Day!!

When? April 11 2026

Two Classes ~ Introduction to Donkey Ownership and Introduction to Donkey Handling.

Not to worry if you want to attend just to pet and interact with the animals thats just fine.

Registration is limited and Jem’s Legacy dba: Team Charity Case is sponsoring the event by providing the venue site and are also picking-up a portion of registration.

Early bird (Register NOW) registration for the first 20 in each class is reduced.

Alyssa with @desertdonkeyexperiences is the Teacher and their website and FB Page is where you can learn all about the event and them!

It’s going to be a full day of Golf Cart tours of the Sanctuary, Donkey Classes, Breakfast Burritos and a Equine Tack Yard Sale..

The venue site is approximately 12 acres so dress comfortable and for walking the ranch. Tables, Chairs and bathroom available.

I will personally be in attendance for both classes.
Who wants to have a Donkey? How much space is needed?

What’s their diet? April 11th will answer those questions and more 🫏🫏🫏

Jem’s Legacy After Hours.. That means braving the winds, trying to fix flags on flag poles in hurricane force winds and getting to all the animals, especially before Hanky Pank starts his Hanking!!

Long day for me today and a big thank you to my neighbor for fixing the damn door on the Ranger!! Holy shit what an improvement.

Welcome Forrest, Lilly and Ru..

3 new resident donkeys will call Jem’s Legacy their home. They have their first Doctors appointment March 26 and until that time, we will be allowing them to adjust to their new surroundings, give them good food and nutrition and keep them in quarantine until the Doctor gives the green light to be in the pasture with the others

Thank you everyone who stepped up to get these amazing animals the help they needed.

We welcome 3 new residents to the Jem’s Legacy Horse and Donkey Sanctuary ( and other animals to)..

We got a phone call a few days ago asking if we could help a hoarding situation down in the Valley area. Ya Ya of course..

2 females (mother and daughter) 1 male (papa) Jennie, Priestly and Forest (papa)

Apparently named after Forest Gump characters.

I have them in the stable arena because it’s colder here compared to where they were. The stable is warmer.

Calling the Vet on Monday. They need a lot work, medical examinations, feet, teeth, vaccinations and worming all of it.

I am confident we will have them fit and trip and healthy as a horse (or donkey) soon..

Goodmorning and Happy Sunday.

Update on the kitten that we got while engaged in trap and release efforts ( T & R) a couple of weeks back.

She doesn’t have a name just yet and I’ve been calling her Wild Kitty because boy she’s spicy..

She is monitored 24/7 by a ring camera and I want to share this brief clip with everyone to show her progress.

The first week was intense rehab and recovery which included healing from her surgery, rest, keeping her warm and making available food and water.

Thank you Yavapai Emergency Animal Hospital Urgent Pet Prescott for taking this kitten in and providing immediate care upon her being trapped.

A toy has been added a few days ago and I tell ya what, she won’t keep away from it.

Her physical appearance has improved 10 fold, she has gained weight, her fur soft and shiny and she has pep in her step and is not hiding anymore and sleeping out in the open on the fleece blanket now rather than inside the tunnel.

Time and patience and lots of love and a toy which she has probably never had. 🙏

A Hope this clip brings smiles for all who view it this morning.

Update!! Many have been inquiring about the nasty

Update!!

Many have been inquiring about the nasty former worker who has been engaged in relentless frivolous harassing and complaint calling on seemingly everything of ours.

We obtained an Injunction Against Workplace Harassment last Summer but the nasty drug abusing former worker evaded for months on end forcing us to spend money and waste valuable resources trying to serve them court documents. The evading spanned 3 counties.
Truth caught up with them but they challenged the Injunction believe it or not and we were in court yesterday pleading with a County Judge to UPHOLD the Injunction and represented by counsel presented novels of evidence and testimony.

Verdict?? The County UPHELD our Injunction and modified it to be EVEN TOUGHER on the criminal adding the ANIMALS, Staff and Volunteers everyone all of us our properties everything!

Thank You Yavapai County! WIN for the Animals.

Message to the nasty drug abusing former WORKER.

Leave Us Alone! Stay out of OUR lane and leave the Animals Alone!!! MOVE ON.. please there is no place in this world for insidious liars, punishers bullies and harassment.

Anyone out there hiring people please drug test and require random drug testing FOR ALL SUBATANCES!

The harassing has been one directional where we have done absolutely nothing whatsoever yet the relentless punishment for us moving away from this individual is apparently not permitted until “they say so”..

From a few days ago, here is the footage of how we safely (anyone can do it) released a skunk.

Skunks really are super sweet animals and mind their own business and every once in a while, one will find its way into a live trap that is meant for something else, like a kitty.

No skunks harmed ever in any release and the Team Charity Case crew involved in any of the 4 releases are just fine!!

Cold temps predicted.. 18° and 19° is cold by any standard and bunny rabbits are very sensitive to high and low temperatures.

I purchased a Chicken/Bunny square heat lamp on amazon that was pretty cheap with hardware to hang and I’m feel pretty good it should keep the bunnies cozy and warm.

We have to keep in mind when the temperatures drop that our furry family members may need special accommodations. Water dishes freezing or bitter cold temps can be harmful.

For the dogs they have insulated houses and jackets. The horses slow feeders. Cats, well they have indoor outdoor enclosures so if it gets cold they simply come in.

For me, it’s time to bust out the heavy socks hat and jacket and be sure to have plenty of dark roast on hand.

Theres been some discussion and talk about Jem’s Legacy After Hours Podcast and it’s here!! It’s Real People..

Today we break ground on phase one of the development of the Podcast Set which is Firewise cleanup and clearing work.

The set itself will have a beautiful Barrel Sauna, Cold Plunge Tank, Fire Pit, Bridge and most importantly will be hosting guests who are engaged in charitable services among other things helping the homeless, Supporting oir local Foodbanks and of course all those in the trenches helping the Animals in all ways.

🥶🥶🥶 Darn Cold this morning I can tell ya that.

Update on all the new slow feeders, especially the bail net feeder I left on the ground last night.

Anyone caring for and responsible for any animal, has woke up wondering is that cat okay, better check the heater, did the trap get that dog...

So... I was worried about the netted slow feeder that was secured around a bail of Teff Hay.
All is good as I was told it would be.

Horses produce A LOT of acid and the ideal scenario is for them to be able to graze all day and night so their stomachs are not empty and all that acid left to cause ulcers which is common in Equine.

Today I plan to elevate the bail slow feeder, getting it off the ground and placing it under a cover as snow and rain are expected.

I have had horses for less than a year.. My days are long and I learn new things daily.

As I lean, I share in hope that someone out there with a horse or donkey can benefit from learning something useful information wise.

For now, thank you for following, I am headed to the main house for coffee!!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to one and ALL. Yup that means our furry family members to, we can’t forget them.

There are many dogs and cats, horses and donkeys waiting for their forever home. Please let’s not only love our animals, but pray for the animals waiting and waiting for the tides to turn their way.

I never take for granted the animals in my life and at the Sanctuary. I am as much a rescue and Charity Case as they are let me tell you.

I am so blessed to be surrounded by animals to be chosen to care for them forever and ever is a True blessing and my life’s calling.

They love toys and I love buying them toys.

Pets enrich our lives and their love is unconditional ❤️🙏

Please let’s together save as many lives as we can in 2026 through adoption and rescue!!
